Round 1 - 20th Feb
The first race of the season... It was quite a rush getting the car ready but Quinten Bergh was an absolute star, working all night for 3 days. We missed some of the practice time and in the first practice we struggled a bit. Quinten did some suspension changes and we started to improve. We eventually qualified 11th.
Race 1
I had a bad start loosing 2 places down to 13th but then started to make up ground. I was back up to 9th when Basil Mann gave me a wack in the kink pushing me into Collin Ellison which dropped me back to 13th. I managed to get back through the field to 7th place.
Race 2
I had my normal crap start (must work on them!) and fell back to 9th on the start. I managed to get up to 5th by the flag with the car running like a dream. That left us in 6th place overall for the day and 5th in the championship. A great day, the car was awesome thanks to Quinten.
Round 2 - 20th Mar
The second race, also at Kyalami. We did some practice and played with a few things and managed to get a 6th place in qualifying. In Polo Cup a top 6 qualifying is important as the first six draw strings to find out what position they actually start from. We didn't get lucky and drew sixth! At least we didn't loose a place.
Race 1
The racing was extreamly close and we had a great scrap all race long. I got a bit unlucky while sitting behind the Gary Heiman, Ian Pepper bun fight and had to slow down just enough to let Johan Smith sneak through into Penzoil. I eventually got an 8th place about 1/4 of a car lenght behind Johan Smith.
Race 2
Again extreamly close racing was the order of the day. Unfortunatally I stuffed up the start an lost places. The car was very good but I was getting held up a lot. I eventually got past Basil Mann and Johan Smith to get another 8th place. The result was not what we had hoped for but the racing was great. On to East London......
